Dream of Louisa VBS

As we walked into Dream of Louisa, the children were in their classroom chanting, " Gringos! Gringos! Gringos!" It was definitely a fun way to arrive and got us all excited to spend some time with them.

The Too-Ty-Ta song is fun for all of us because it requires limited language skills, in both English and Spanish. But this little girl in the front had trouble getting just her thumbs to stick out.

Amy is the young lady in the center of this photo. She is about 15 years old and recently spent two months in the hospital having a tumor removed from her kidney. Her little brother is next to her and he has already had a similar surgery also. They also have a young cousin, Milagro (Miracle in English), who was born weighing just one pound who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. She will be five next month and is half the size of Charlotte, our almost five year old missions team member.

By far, the favorite thing of all the children we have met is the music time. It's always a little hard to convince them to pass their instruments along to the next child when the song changes.

The same is true of the scarves, though the boys don't often know what to do with them.

 

Even the youngest members of our team are making new friends.

The beautiful Ms. Alice is about as popular as Ms. Darlene and her music time. Many of the children come back for their second cheek, or even their forehead to be painted! Especially the los ninos!

Jennifer Lightsey was in charge of making bead bracelets and the kids also had a good time looking at photos of themselves on her phone.

Just outside Dream of Louisa is a large arch. You can climb to the top and this is the view of the city you will see.
